Pinqponq was born in 2014 in Cologne, inside the FOND OF group that had already taught German schoolchildren to carry ergonomic rucksacks under the ergobag and satch brands.
The recipe has been the same since day one: take waste and turn it into honest fabric.
Pinqponq textiles are made entirely from recycled PET bottles — crushed into flakes, melted and spun into new cloth.
The brand is a bluesign partner, ensuring no toxic chemistry enters the supply chain, and a member of the Fair Wear Foundation, which independently monitors working conditions in production.
Production runs in Vietnam, and people from the Cologne headquarters travel to the factories regularly in person.
Since 2017 every product has been vegan, and the entire portfolio gets by without PFC — the so-called forever chemicals commonly used to waterproof outdoor goods.
The motto Balance the unbalanced carries over into the design: minimalist, ergonomically shaped rucksacks that spare your back, thoughtful internal organisation, no seasonal gimmicks.
