Slow was founded in 2020 by Kristína Mikulajová, and the name is the whole programme: slow down.
The Slovak brand makes candles where slowness is taken both literally and figuratively.
The wax is soy, plant-based, and poured by hand in small batches in Bratislava; the wicks are wooden, so they quietly crackle while burning like a fireplace in pocket form.
The scents are not made from synthetic catalogue essences but by maceration of real herbs, flowers and plants — a slow, ancient technique in which the fragrance releases into the oil over weeks.
Most scents come from Grasse, some from local Slovak suppliers.
The Enjoyment collection takes the circular logic further still: the wax is poured into used wine bottles, so the vessel has had a first life at the table and a second on the windowsill.
So.
Slow is small Slovak craft that doesn't pretend to be anything, just consistently holds one thought: an evening with a candle is a ritual of slowing down, so let the slowness be in the way the candle was made too.
Slow burn in both senses.
