Collection: In August Company

In August Company was founded in 2017 by illustrator Karolína and photographer Teodorik, and their Prague brand returns the word handmade to its original meaning: hands. The ceramics are made locally in limited runs, so the entire process from clay to glaze is traceable and no two pieces are exactly alike. The painted faces on mugs and pots differ piece by piece; a small deviation of the line is not a flaw but the signature of the particular moment when brush met glaze. The second line of the range is incense sticks, handmade in Japan from a natural blend of herbs, spices and resins — a country where working with scent is a centuries-old craft, not mass production. The ceramics have meanwhile found buyers in Japan, London and America. The brand thus connects two craft traditions across half the planet and holds both to the same standard: small runs, natural materials, no anonymous mass production. In August Company is for people who want things at home with an origin that can be told. A mug from specific hands in Prague, a scent from specific hands in Japan. Small range, great care.
