SKFK, formerly known as Skunkfunk, hails from the Basque city of Bilbao and is one of the pioneers of fair fashion in Spain.
The brand builds on a combination of GOTS certification for organic materials and Fairtrade for fair trading conditions, and follows its responsibility through to places the customer doesn't normally see.
It guarantees the Chetna cooperative in India, which grows its organic cotton, a year's purchase commitment in advance so farmers don't have to finance the season with debt.
Goods travel by sea rather than air, because shipping has a far lower carbon footprint.
It also states the climate impact of its products, so the customer knows what their piece actually cost the planet.
Add to that a Basque visual identity: geometric patterns, bold colours and cuts that don't try to imitate Scandinavian restraint, because southern Europe has its own language.
SKFK shows that fair fashion needn't look grey or expensive.
It just needs to be honestly calculated, from field to ship to shelf.
